Being one of the oldest cities in America, Albany has a rich history which is displayed in the cities many museums, and historical homes and districts. The Cultural Education Center is home to three great facilities: the New York State Museum, the New York State Library and the New York State Archives; all of which are free to the public.
Albany is also steeped in Dutch heritage and every July, the city celebrates Dutch culture at their Tulip Festival. During the Tulip Festival, Washington Park is transformed into a wonderland of music, food, shows, and, of course, tulips. In fact, there are nearly 150,000 tulips planted in Washington Park every year for the festival.
